CNBC-TV18-CRISIL Mutual Fund Awards 2012 - Methodology

The eligibility criteria and methodology for the CNBC-TV18 - CRISIL Mutual Fund of the Year 2012 Awards:

Scheme Awards

Eligibility Criteria
Funds should be ranked for all the four quarterly CRISIL Mutual Fund Rankings in 2011.

Methodology

  • The parametric scores across the four quarterly CRISIL Mutual Fund Rankings are considered. The parameters include a combination of NAV-based parameters such as return and volatility, and portfolio-based attributes such as concentration, liquidity and asset quality.
  • All eligible funds in a category are ranked relative to the best performer on each parameter for each quarter. The best performer gets a scaled score of 1 and the others get progressively lower scaled scores based on their performance.
  • The quarterly scaled scores are then averaged to arrive at scores for each parameter for the year.
  • The final score for each fund is arrived at by applying an assigned weightage, as in the CRISIL Mutual Fund Ranking, to each of the parametric scores.
The fund with the highest final score is the winner in the category.
