CRISIL has assigned its ‘Grade 1’ maritime grading to the above-mentioned courses conducted by Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI).

Maritime grading indicates CRISIL’s opinion on the extent to which an individual course meets the stated objectives of the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS). The evaluation is based on six critical components that determine the educational efficacy of the content of the courses. Courses are graded on a five-point scale, with ‘Grade 1’ being the highest, and ‘Grade 5’ the lowest.

The grading reflects TMI’s tie up with Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) –Pilani, its professionally qualified and commited promoters, competent and well-qualified faculty, good infrastructure with emphasis on practical training, strong process quality, excellent student development and internship programmes, excellent placement track record, and strong financial flexibility. These grading strengths are partially offset by risks associated with Tolani Education Foundation’s (TEF’s) family-managed board.

About the Institute
TMI is a maritime institute located on a 130-acre campus at Induri, Talegoan, near Pune. It was established in 1998. TMI is promoted and managed by TEF and supported by Nandlal Tolani Charitable Trust (NTCT). These organisations have been promoted by the Tolani group to pursue the Tolani family’s interests in the field of education. Dr. N P Tolani is the chairman of TEF, and is assisted by his son Mr. Rohet Tolani and daughter Dr. Sujata Naik-Tolani.

Provost, Capt. Raj Razdan manages the administrative activities of TMI and the principal Mr. B K Saxena manages the academic activities.
