Demand for fertilisers is considered a de facto barometer of agricultural growth.
More than half of India’s workforce is employed in agriculture and allied activities. Fertilisers, being vital to sustaining and increasing food production, are critical to the economy and therefore regulated by the central government to a large extent.
There have also been some policy moves in recent times to make the country 'aatma nirbhar' in terms of fertiliser production.
Given all that, what would be the demand outlook for fertilisers in the near and medium terms? Will the consumption pattern change given the government's impetus on improving soil health? What would be the profitability and credit outlook for the sector amid evolving regulations?
To discuss, CRISIL is organising a webinar where its experts will present their views on:
Demand and supply outlook for the sector
Profitability outlook for both urea and complex fertiliser segments
Impact of cheaper gas on the subsidy bill and the arrears
Update on evolving reforms and regulations
Credit outlook for the sector
This will be followed by a panel discussion with experts from the industry and a Q&A session.
