AI at Financial Institutions: Balancing Innovation and Risk Management

Summary

Financial institutions (FIs) are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to respond to customer expectations and gain a competitive edge in their business processes and decision making.

Such adoption, however, requires effective risk management practices to ensure AI tools and models are accurate, reliable and trustworthy, while also mitigating risks related to bias, fairness, and security.

In this context, CRISIL Global Research & Risk Solutions is organizing a panel discussion, titled AI@FI, on June 20, 2023, from 6:00 pm EDT to 8:00 pm EDT, to explore key considerations and best practices for managing AI/ML risk at FIs, challenges and opportunities presented by AI models, and effective and reliable deployment.

While discussing use-cases at their institutions, the panelists will also share their experiences and insights on unique considerations (strategies, operating models) for managing risk in the context of AI.

Some of the topics that will be touched upon include:

  • New tools and services being developed through AI technologies
  • New or modified risk drivers for AI/ML Models, which can create additional challenges for risk management
  • How existing risk management frameworks are being adapted to address AI/ML-related risks
  • Ways to deal with uncertainty that may prevent deployment of AI/ML solutions
