Climate risk clarion call for banks

Incorporating climate risk management into existing risk management processes is now on the radar of banking regulators across the world. Banks, on their part, have started addressing climate risks as part of their core business strategy, and a few have even begun including climate risk considerations in their lending and commercial operations. Climate risk regulations are still evolving, though, with multiple regulators coming up with consultative documents and recommendations on how to manage climate risks.

For global banks progressing on the agenda, therefore, there is an inherent need to undertake this exercise in a consolidated way to ensure that their book of work in this area is robust and coherent. We evaluate emerging regulatory landscape - from Singapore to Europe - and present how different regulators are approaching this theme.
