CRISIL FundServices has, in the past, assisted institutions such as Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority and Coal Mines Provident Fund Organisation in selecting fund managers to manage their respective retirement schemes. This reflects a growing trend among institutions to appoint professional fund managers to manage their retirement schemes such as pension and provident funds more effectively. In the current environment, a focused approach by a number of institutions to enhance the effectiveness of fund management, particularly for retirement schemes like pension funds and provident funds has been seen. One of the ways this can be achieved is by entrusting the management of these funds to specialists.

CRISIL's methodology for selecting fund managers focuses on both qualitative and quantitative parameters, particularly the former. The qualitative factors considered include the bidders' organisation structure, investment and operational processes, and risk management practices. Among quantitative factors considered are the bidders' experience and track record, returns performance, and assets under management. CRISIL believes that the combination of qualitative and quantitative parameters ensures that the methodology for the selection of fund managers is robust. CRISIL is delighted to be able to contribute to the efficiency and transparency of an important block of the Indian financial system by continuing to provide unbiased opinions backed by rigorous analytical approaches.
