Hyderabad is the administrative, financial, and economic capital of Andhra Pradesh, and is the largest contributor to the state’s gross domestic product (GDP). Hyderabad is the sixth-largest populous city in India; the city has a population of about 5.7 million according to census 2001, with a population density of 17,649 per sq km as compared to the population density of 277 per sq km of Andhra Pradesh and 324 per sq km of India.
