Lucknow is the capital city of the second largest Indian state - Uttar Pradesh, which has a population density of 1443 per square kilometre (sq km). It is also one of the fastest growing cities in India with growing manufacturing, commercial and retail segments. The Uttar Pradesh state government is one of the major employers in the city, followed by private sector companies. Lucknow has manufacturing majors such as Tata Motors Ltd, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd and Eveready Industries.
