Summary

The automobile sector in India is seeing buoyancy in demand for most vehicle segments this fiscal as supply-side concerns ease after a year of turbulence caused by high commodity prices, supply chain challenges, rising logistics costs, and an acute shortage of semiconductors.

The sector has been resilient in the face of the odds, but the journey is expected to remain challenging, given the evolving market dynamics and regulatory environment, and disruptive technological breakthroughs.

We have successfully kick-started CRISIL’s Meet the Expert Series, a chat series with leaders across industries, sector experts, and policymakers to focus the klieg light on key trends and challenges.

Against this backdrop, the first episode in the series, titled “Trends reinventing the Indian passenger vehicles industry”, featured a chat with Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility.
