CRISIL webinar on the oil sector: Altering fuel dynamics - Can oil companies adapt?

Summary

The transportation sector accounts for half of India's oil demand. With the sector seeing a structural change because of rising usage of non-fossil alternatives, what will be the demand outlook for two of the most used conventional fuels - petrol and diesel - in India over the long term?

What will the changing fuel-mix mean for refinery and marketing companies, their demand outlook, profitability, expansion plans and credit profiles?

What about crude oil prices? Where could they sustain over the medium term?

CRISIL's experts will try to address these during the webinar, by presenting insights on:

  • India's energy mix - how it is expected to change over medium to long term
  • Alternative fuels such as CNG, biofuel, and electric vehicles - how the transition is shaping demand for them
  • Demand outlook for petrol and diesel - extent of impact owing to alternative fuels
  • Oil refinery and marketing companies - capex scenario given their strategic shift from standalone refineries to integrated refinery and petrochemicals projects
  • Outlook of oil refinery and marketing companies - trends in profitability and return on capital employed
  • Credit outlook - net impact of changing demand and profitability dynamics on the credit profiles of refiners

This will be followed by a panel discussion with industry leaders and a Q&A session.
